Each year we enjoy an assembly to celebrate harvest in aid of a local charity. This year, children were invited to bring food to school to donate to St Ives Food Bank.
The charity collects food and provisions from the local community and supermarkets to enable their volunteers to assemble food boxes which provide a minimum of three days emergency support in exchange for food vouchers which are allocated by organisations such as doctors, health visitors, social workers and other agencies who identify those in need.
Our assembly emphasised the work of the charity and highlighted the issues of food and hunger in today's society. Former staff member and teacher Mrs O'Shea attended our celebration and delighted us with the tale of The Stone Soup Story which some pupils helped recreate through role play to help us all understand the importance of sharing.
We are also able to access vouchers for families who need them; please let us know if this is something you feel we may be able to help you with.
