Autumn 1 in Perran Class!
Our topic this half term was 'How have I grown?' We started the year looking at all of the different things that make us different and what makes us special, we discussed our appearances, our families and our homes, and our likes and dislikes. We used mirrors to explore what we look like and painted self portraits! As a class, we shared photographs of us when were babies and we loved looking at how we had changed and discussing all of the wonderful things that we can do now that we could not do then!
After this, we learned about Autumn, we did a senses walk and observed how the leaves on the trees fall off and change colour. We discussed how we can keep ourselves safe by wearing the right clothes! Following this, we learned all about Harvest festival which included a trip to Trevaskis Farm where we learned all about different fruit and vegetables, where they are grown, and how they are picked!
Autumn 2 in Perran class!
For the second half of the Autumn term, our topic question was 'Why do we celebrate?' This topic started with a class party where we dressed up in our special clothes, played party games and shared party food. We thoroughly enjoyed sharing all of the different ways that we celebrate with our families and the different traditions that we all have. We learned all about other festivals, beliefs and celebrations and it was really interesting to see how celebrations differ around the world. We explored celebrations including birthdays, Bonfire night, Diwali, Weddings, Christenings, and Christmas. We visited our local church, made clay Diya lamps, Christingles, created rangoli patterns and used our outdoor learning space to create our very own bonfire night celebrations!

Our topic this half term is
 'What is a Hero?'
As we welcome the children back for the spring term we will be exploring what a hero is and what makes a hero.
We will be dressing up as superheroes and we will be immersing ourselves in our focus text this half term which is Supertato!
As a a class we will be discussing people who we believe are our very own superheroes and why, learning all about our local heroes including members of the emergency services with visits from some members of our community.

As part of our Science this half term, we will be learning about plants, getting to know all of the different parts that make up a plant, and what a plant needs to grow in preparation for us to begin our very own growing project next half term!

Perran class really enjoyed starting the Spring term dressed up as their favourite super heroes!
